A 98% completion rate tells you people finished a course. It doesn't tell you whether they're current on the version that matters today, or whether they can apply it.
Ask a better question
"Who is current on what changed?" combines three things: which version someone was trained on, whether they demonstrated understanding, and whether the change affects their role.
Useful signals
- Version received. Which release of the course each person completed.
- Assessment on the changed objective, not the whole course.
- Scenario performance for decision-heavy rules.
- Attestation for specific changes.
Right-size the follow-up
When a rule changes, current staff need a short delta lesson, new hires need patched onboarding, and managers may only need a briefing. Treating everyone the same wastes time and goodwill.
