Training pull requests: version control for what people learn

Software teams don't edit production by emailing files. Training shouldn't either. The case for diffs, reviewers and releases in L&D.

In software, every change goes through a pull request: a clear diff, named reviewers, automated checks and a record of who approved what. Training content changes just as often and matters just as much, but usually changes by email and tracked changes.

What a Training PR contains

  • The trigger: which source changed, and how.
  • The diff: before-and-after text for every affected lesson, question, scenario and locale.
  • The impact: who needs to know, and the smallest intervention that works.
  • Checks: grounding, coverage, accessibility, your own rules.
  • Reviewers: content owner, policy owner, legal when needed.

Why it helps

Reviews get faster because reviewers see only what changed. Audits get easier because every release has a record. And learners get a three-minute update instead of retaking a whole course.
